News: The firehose of news – Newsvine
July 23, 2007 on 1:29 am | In News | No Comments
Newsvine is a community news site that pulls news from the main media channels such as the Associated Press, MSNBC, and etc but it also has contributions (they call it seeding) from average folks like you and me. The popularity of the news item is determined by the community so again it follows that power to the people principle that has dominated the Web 2.0 wave. Its a fast way to get the news if you don’t use your rss reader and besides you are participating in social project where you get to determine which news will garner the most attention.
The site is very professional looking which makes sense since it was founded by a bunch of corporate veterans in the media industry and its venture capital funded. There’s a live view of the real time news submissions into newsvine. There’s also local news and weather feed.
So seed away into newsvine and watch the vine grow upwards.
